Spreading The Gospel

SPREADING THE GOSPEL

To assume that winning people to Christ can be done best by preachers is to miss the obvious – there are more believers than preachers, and believers have many responsibilities and opportunities to teach.

Believers are indispensable in the plan to successfully spread the gospel.  Each follower of Christ spends much of his or her time where preachers do not – with unbelievers in the work force, in social gatherings, and among their own members and close friends.  If believers do not seize these unique opportunities, the chances of teaching these people may be nil.

The gospel was to be preached first in Jerusalem, then in all of Judea, in Samaria, and in the rest of the world (Acts 1:8).  It was preached first by the apostles (Acts 2:14).  Soon there were preachers who heralded the gospel too (Acts 8:5).  But believers, also, effectively shared the gospel with others (Acts 8:3-4; 11:19-21).

God’s plan for spreading the gospel includes you.  It requires that preachers and believers alike be busy telling the story of Jesus.  Learn the word of God, then share it with someone!  (2 Timothy 2:2).
